The major goal of the Rwenzori Integrated School WASH project is improved health and quality of education through equitable access to sustainable safe clean water, sanitation and better hygiene practices for pupils and teachers. Thanks to the Walking for Water 2013/2014 students, Aqua for All, Rotary Chelmsford Phoenix, UWC Maastricht, SEK Budapest and other donors, students in Rwenzori region are now able to access clean water, gender sensitive latrines and are educated on hygiene practices. Because students have access to clean water in schools now, they are able to go to school on time, especially the girls who traditionally are responsible for the collection of water before they went to school. At the same time, girls are able to attend school even during their periods, with the construction of separate latrine blocks for boys and girls and training on Reusable Menstrual Pads. Now the students can focus on learning and performing in school. Thanks so much to everybody who supported this project, the students in the different schools in Rwenzori region are happy students because of your support!
